"Imagination or Reality"
October 23 - December 28, 2025
Royse Contemporary presents "Imagination or Reality", an exhibition that examines visions shaped by truth and illusion, centered around a dynamic and spirited group of artists. The artists explore the fine line (often blurred) between what is imagined and what is real. The exhibition challenges viewers to confront the nature of truth, perception and possibility through visual storytelling, abstraction and conceptual expression. Typically we define "Imagination" as the ability of the mind to create images, ideas, that are not immediately present to the senses, whereas "Reality" is the state of things as they actually exist," explains Royse.
This exhibition showcases seven noteworthy artists: Peter Brian Klein, James Anthony Peters, Cam DeCaussin, Marilyn Szabo, Barbara Kemp Cowlin, Lee Davis and Gennaro Garcia. Their work explores these ideas and concepts while reflecting upon the artists own perspective and creative process. The artists selected both typify and transcend these categories, creating powerful original artwork that offers a mastery of medium and authentic voice, explains Nicole Royse, Owner/Curator. This exhibition offers a wide-ranging selection of work including collage, drawing, painting, photography, and mixed media.
"Imagination or Reality" aims to create a dialog and connection with these artists while highlighting their use of imagery, diverse styles, and strong voice. Although each artist's work may appear aesthetically different, Royse has created an exciting dialog for the artists through the power of their imagery, their originality and the overall vitality that the works possesses.
"Imagination or Reality" will open to the public Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 6-9pm, coinciding with the weekly Scottsdale ArtWalk. The evening will feature a special reception celebrating the featured artists, as well as an opportunity to meet the artists and curator. This exhibition will be on display through December 28, 2025.
